This isn't going to be a normal takeaway. Too Late; Didn't Recap:

  • This team is terrible.
  • Njikamp and company need to come out and explain themselves on what the plan is here.
  • DPs not playing, new signings taking forever to arrive, haphazard roster construction.
  • Everyone can say to give this project time or we still need another year to build, but this is a team we are watching now.
  • van der Werff, Pettersson, Gyau, Medunjanin, Gutman, Locadia, and Vazquez are all Njikamp players.
  • Richey, Amaya, Cruz, and Waston are the only players our GM did not bring in starting tongiht.
  • Amaya is probably the best player on the team, Cruz was the best player last year, Waston is either the best or worst player on the team depending on who you ask, Richey is a serviceable backup goalkeeper.
  • The not-Njikamp guys aren't the problem.
  • This team, at its best, is defensive bunkering and hoping for a lucky set piece goal or scraping to a draw.
  • Last year the team played a style it did not have a roster for, 4-3-3, because that was going to be the style going forward.
  • In 2020 that was abandoned after the third game, and yet we continue to see the same poor results.
  • But now these poor results don't come as a result of committing to a style of play, it's chasing results and not getting them.
  • Which means the pain of this year isn't building to anything.
  • So why didn't this team try to get results in the second half of 2019?
  • Why did the team give up on the system in 2020?
  • What is the point of a general manager if the team isn't going to build and play a particular system?
  • What's the point of a general manager if you're going to have a system and sign players to fit in that system?
  • Because 7 of the 11 players that started this game were brought in to be a part of a system that they're no longer playing in, and the guys not playing are getting the blame for not being able to build the system.
  • The lack of transparency around the building of this team and the sporting side is appalling for a fan-base that is being expected to fill a new stadium next year.
  • Everyone wants time, but for what?
  • What are you seeing that we're building towards?
  • This team isn't even losing ugly playing it's system
  • Is the 3-5-2 the new system? Do we need to turn over the entire roster again to play this brand new system that it appears Stam implemented?
  • If the manager is switching up the system, what is the point of a GM again?
  • If the GM isn't hiring a manager who will play the system he is trying to build, shouldn't they fire the manager?
  • The last time this team scored two goals was March 1st, I'm not counting an own goal.
  • Not to mention, this 3-5-2 thing is pretty easy to beat when teams are... good.
  • Wingbacks who aren't wing backs, slow midfielders unable to provide cover, isolated strikers, non-strikers player striker, slow centerbacks expected to cover extra ground, it's a mess.
  • It's hard to blame a striker for a loss when they don't get the ball, like tonight.
  • But the number of shocking misses Loca and others have had start to pile up.
  • Does Kamo fix this whole thing?
  • Was Kamo brought in to play in a 4-3-3 or a 3-5-2?
  • Who is playing the Kamo role now?
  • If we don't have someone playing the Kamo role now, it would suggest we don't have a system in place.
  • If we don't have a system in place, what's the point of a GM?
  • Is Bareal expected to plug into this lineup or is the system going to change when he comes in?
  • Do we really have the flexibility to have a youth prospect who isn't expected to be an everyday starter costing north of a million dollars?
  • Who is playing in the Bareal role right now? Gyau? Vazquez? Cruz?
  • Was Bareal brought in to be a winger in a 4-3-3 or a wingback in a 3-5-2?
  • I wish it was fun to watch this team play.
  • I wish I could go 30 seconds into a game thinking my local team was going to win.
  • I wish I had confidence my favorite team could mount a comeback.
  • Every time I see Jimmy McLaughlin on the injury report I die a little bit. Why. Just why.
  • We are unable to put together a full bench and have players on loan.
  • Regattin left Cincinnati because he was home sick, then signed in Turkey. Why.
  • Stop caring about the fans and they'll stop caring about you.
